EAGLEHAWK NECK
At Eaglehawk Neck visit the Officers Quarters historic site and the site of the infamous convict 'Dog' Line' where a line of savage dogs prevented any run-away convicts escaping across this narrow neck of land.
TASSELATED PAVEMENT
A remarkable example of patterns, resembling a pavement, which has been created in the rock by erosion and weathering. There are many pavements around Pirates Bay but only a few that present regular and attractive patterns. The pavement is created by a combination of chemical and physical processes. Chemical processes may change the composition and lead to expansion of the rock, and hence some cracking. The creation of such regular or "tesselated" patterns are rare. An excellent example is very close to Clyde Island which can only be reached during calm weather and low tide.
